Seven East Austin businesses are opening, expanding, celebrating anniversaries or closing locations in East Austin.

1. Blackbird Fitness celebrated its fifth anniversary Jan. 1. The gym offers personal training and nutrition coaching at 701 Tillery St., Unit B3, Austin. 737-210-6868. www.blackbirdfitnessandnutrition.com

2. East Side Picture Framing opened inside Springdale Road’s Canopy Creative Complex on Jan. 4. The shop offers “museum quality, full conservation” custom framing options across fine art mediums at 916 Springdale Road, Bldg. 4, Ste. 105, Austin. 512-520-8031. www.eastsidepictureframing.com

3. Easy Tiger will open a new location in East Austin at 1501 E. Seventh St., Austin, in early February. This is the third location for the local bake shop, restaurant and beer garden, and the second to open in four months; in October, Easy Tiger opened at a South Lamar Boulevard spot following the closure of its original downtown location. www.easytigerusa.com

4. The 1627 E. Seventh St., Austin, location of El Chilito permanently closed Jan. 15. “Over the last few months we have worked to keep this location alive, but due to the prolonged lack of commuter traffic, downtown business and business lunch catering, it is just no longer viable to keep the doors open,» said Orlando Sanchez, the chief operations officer of parent company El Chile Group, in a statement. The Manor Road and Menchaca Road locations of El Chilito remain open. El Chile Group also continues to operate two other local restaurants, El Alma and El Chile. www.elchilito.com

5. Hops & Grain Brewing permanently closed its taproom at 507 Calles St., Ste. 101, Austin, as of Dec. 3, according to a letter posted on the brewery’s website by owner Josh Hare. «For the foreseeable future, we’ll be focusing all of our energy and resources on the production and distribution of beers,» Hare wrote. 6. Rosie’s Beauty Lounge opened inside the 501 Studios Building at 501 N. I-35, Ste. 209D, Austin, on Aug. 14. Owner Rosie Umberger describes the retro-themed wax salon as an “inclusive, body-positive” business. 7. East Austin’s Salt & Time expanded to include a new venture, Salt & Time Wine Shop alongside its butcher shop and restaurant in December. The shop, located at 1912 E. Seventh St., Ste.
