With work from home gaining popularity, City-based consultants are of the opinion that the market is flooded with freelancing job opportunities as employers are recognising that talent can be found outside the 9 am to 5 pm format as well.

Experts also claim that depending on the nature of the job, duration of association with the company, the remuneration can vary across different domains. Work from home is also giving job seekers a chance to hone their skills as well as earn money simultaneously.

Kanika Malhotra, Director ileadHR, Ranchi is of the opinion that work from home is a blessing in disguise for women to restart their careers from the comfort of their homes. “The ongoing pandemic has proven to be a boon especially for females who could not pursue their careers. Women who had taken a break are now getting a lot of work from home and free lancing job opportunities and are coming back to the eligible work force. In HR, women are working as freelancers and helping companies in framing policies around Covid. The hiring dynamics have also changed as everything is now online as against offline. Even small companies are looking for consultants and it is a great time to start afresh.”

The consultant further stated that for anyone keen to apply as a freelancer in today’s times, digital media plays a vital role. “Forums like Freelancer.com and LinkedIn have opportunities which are posted by various companies at regular times. These offers enable people to become micro entrepreneurs and also gives them a chance to pursue their passion. They also help one in maintaining a work- life balance thereby earning a steady income simultaneously.”

“Presently there are a great number of work from home opportunities available for freelancers be it in any field like recruitment and IT. Companies like VMWare, CEAT and Flipkart have announced work from home till December 2021. If one is able to get in through the right connect, then the market is flooded with such jobs at the moment. For freshers there are limited opportunities available right now as in free lancing they cannot be trained,” said Tarun Kumar Bhagat, Founder Wikata Consulting Services, Ranchi.

Malhotra also feels that for freshers the market is slow as even reputed colleges are unable to attract companies for placements. However, from April onwards industries like construction, retail, IT and pharma are likely pick up as more job opportunities are expected.
