Dr. Head is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon in adult hip and knee reconstruction. He is the only surgeon in the area that utilizes this technology although he says its been around for more than ten years. Doctor Head says there are arrays which are fixed to the patients bones and its what the Mako robot camera system uses to keep track of the patients movement. There is also a probe used to create check points which links the patient to a CT scan. All of this he says forms an information triangle between the patient, the robot, and the patient CT scan.
