Mercy hospitals earn ‘A’ grades

Mercy Hospital Fort Smith and Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers each earned an A grade for their continued commitment to patient safety from The Leapfrog Group. Mercy Hospital Fort Smith received its ninth A in a row, while Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas received its seventh A of the last eight rating periods.

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog assessment uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice a year. The methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

Black Apple cider recognized

Black Apple took home three prizes at the 2020 Cidercraft awards, which saw more than 450 submissions from around the world. Black Apple’s Hibiscus cider won in the Double Gold award in the botanical category, its Wild Berry cider won Double Gold in the fruit category and spiced cider won Gold in the spiced category.

Black Apple is at 321 Emma Ave. in Springdale.
